Do you need financial assistance? Our youth programs qualify for the City of Hamilton Recreation Assistance funding and Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart. Returning skaters with a change in financial circumstances can apply for a bursary from either Hallwent Region or Western Ontario Section. Please see the below links for more information.

City of Hamilton Recreation Assistance Program - The Recreation Fee Assistance Program is to provide City of Hamilton residents living with a low income the opportunity to participate in organized sports and recreation programs.

Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart – JumpStart is a program of the Canadian Tire Foundation for Families and attempts to eliminate the financial barriers from sports participation. The program is funded through the generosity of Canadian Tire stores and franchisees and public donations. For more information please refer to the application form or contact Warren Oda at Warrren.Oda@hamilton.ca.

Hallwent Bursary – The applicant must have skated in the 2013–14 year with a Skate Canada club. Please indicate the number of years the applicant has skated at a Skate Canada sanctioned club and provide the name of the club on the appropriate line on the application form.

Bursary funds are available to recreational skaters only. Competitive skaters (i.e. competing at Pre-Juvenile or higher) should not apply for Bursary assistance from Hallwent Region. Synchronized skaters may only apply if their team skates at the Beginner, Elementary, Juvenile or Pre-Novice level.

The Skater may only participate in two (2) recreational competitions (excluding their club competition) each season in STARSkate categories.

Applications must include a brochure from their home club that details session fees.

The "Family profile" should include a brief description of changed fiancial circumstances that resulted in the need to apply for assistance. (i.e. Loss of employment, parent injury, changes in family status and sickness).

Please ensure all areas of the form are completed. Incomplete applications lacking the required information, signatures or club brochure will not be processed and will be returned to the applicant.

Western Ontario Section Bursary - Grants are available for CanSkate/STARSkate skaters and the Competitive skaters advancing beyond the Sectional level and funded by Ontario Skaters’ Promotional Contest. Participation in this fundraiser by the Applicant’s Home Club is one of the selection criteria.

Please ask any Board member for more information on these programs.
